Crazy Challenges, Royal Shots & Family Fun
What happens when you mix family golf with cowboy outfits, wobbly boards, royal thrones, princesses in high heels, lost jewels, and inflatable swimming pools scattered across the fairways? You get a Family Golf Cup event unlike any other.
The Malta edition of the Family Golf Cup 2026 brought a whole new meaning to family golf. Forget a traditional round where the only challenge is hitting the ball straight. Here, every hole had a surprise, every tee shot demanded something different, and every family had a chance to laugh, improvise, and create memories together.
This was golf with a twist — and Malta certainly delivered.
A Golf Course Full of Surprises
At this Family Golf Cup, the challenges started before the ball even left the tee. Each hole introduced a physical or theatrical obstacle that tested more than just golfing ability. Creativity, balance, confidence, and a good sense of humour were just as important as the swing itself.
Yee-haw! Cowboy Golf
Some tee shots called for a cowboy transformation. Players had to embrace the Wild West, dress the part, and take their shots in character. Suddenly, the tee box became a stage, and golf became a performance.
Keeping Your Balance
Other holes challenged players to stand on a wobbly board before attempting their tee shots. Maintaining balance while trying to deliver a decent swing was no easy task — and it made for plenty of entertaining moments.
A Royal Shot from the Throne
Why stand at the tee like an ordinary golfer when you can sit like a prince on a throne? At one of the holes, players had to take their shot from an elevated chair, turning a simple tee shot into a royal challenge.
Princesses, High Heels & Lost Jewels
Perhaps one of the most imaginative challenges brought a fairytale to the golf course. Players dressed like princesses in high heels and faced a par-3 challenge to reach the green, where lost jewellery and personal belongings were scattered across the putting surface as obstacles.
It was a test of precision, patience, and imagination — proving that even a princess needs a steady hand to make par!

Artificial Water Hazards — Malta Style
And then came the water hazards. Except these weren’t the traditional ponds or lakes golfers usually try to avoid. Inflatable pools were strategically scattered around selected holes, creating artificial water hazards and adding another layer of chaos and fun to the round.
The result was a course where nobody could quite predict what would happen next.
More Than Golf: A Celebration of Family
The Malta edition captured everything that makes the Family Golf Club experience special. Children and parents faced the challenges together, cheered each other on, and discovered that golf can be about much more than technique or scores.
It was about trying something new, laughing at unexpected situations, encouraging one another, and enjoying the game without taking it too seriously.
Whether players were balancing on a wobbly board, taking a royal shot, or navigating a green full of lost treasures, the goal remained the same: have fun together.
And by that measure, the event was a tremendous success.
The Passing Trophy Finds Its New Home
One of the most meaningful moments of the day came when the Family Golf Cup Passing Trophy changed hands.
After becoming the first holders of the trophy at the Bari Alto edition, the Sukys Family handed it over to the rightful winners of the Malta event — the Mece Family.
The handover represented more than a sporting result. It continued the tradition at the heart of the Family Golf Cup: families celebrating one another, sharing experiences, and carrying the spirit of the competition from one event to the next.
The trophy now has a new home, and the Mece Family can proudly carry the title forward until the next chapter of the Family Golf Cup journey.
Malta Proves That Family Golf Can Be Anything But Ordinary
The Malta edition showed what happens when organisers dare to think beyond traditional golf formats. By combining physical challenges, imaginative themes, unusual obstacles, and friendly family competition, the event created an experience that players of all ages could enjoy.
Every hole told a different story. Every challenge brought a new laugh. And every family became part of something memorable.
This is what the Family Golf Cup is all about: bringing generations together through golf, making the game accessible and enjoyable, and creating experiences that families will talk about long after the final putt.
Because at Family Golf Club, the best memories aren’t always made with the lowest score.
Golf is better when families experience it together.
See you at the next Family Golf Cup stop — where the next challenge could be anything!
