Children & Parental Consent Notice

This notice explains, in plain language, what we collect about your child through their Junior Profile, how consent works, and what control you have. Read it alongside our main Privacy Policy.

How this works

Every Junior Profile lives inside an adult Member’s family account. Your child cannot create their own account, log in independently of your family account, or accept any terms themselves. You, as the account-holding parent or guardian, are the one who registers a Junior Profile and consents to what it involves — this is different from services aimed at children directly, and it’s why our consent model is built around the parent’s authority rather than asking a child to agree to anything.

This reflects GDPR Article 8, which governs children’s own consent to online services aimed at them directly, and the age at which that applies varies by EU country (13–16). Because a Junior Profile is created and controlled by the adult Member — not by the child acting alone — Article 8’s direct-consent trigger does not apply to how FGC currently operates. If a future version of the app ever allowed a Junior Profile to be created or controlled independently of a parent account, we would update this notice and our consent process before launching that.

What we collect about your child

• First name and age band (we use age bands like our Recognition Stages rather than exact birthdates wherever the feature allows it).
• Rounds and practice sessions they or you log.
• Achievement badges unlocked through the recognition system.
• Scores and handicap information submitted at Family Cup events.
• Brief self-reported check-ins on focus, confidence, and how they responded to a tough hole — part of the eight-dimension development picture.
• Photos or video from events they attend, if any are taken — see “Photos at events” below.

We do not knowingly collect any of the above, or anything else, directly from a child without it passing through your family account first.

What we never do with your child’s data

• We never make it public. It’s visible only to your family and, if you choose to add one, a Coach you’ve specifically granted access to.
• We never use it to build an advertising profile, target ads at your child, or share it with Sponsors for marketing.
• We never use it to make an automated decision that has a legal or similarly significant effect on your child — the recognition system informs conversations at home, not decisions made about your child by a machine.
• We never publish a public ranking or leaderboard of Junior Profiles.

Your control over a Junior Profile

You can review, correct, or delete any Junior Profile’s data without deleting your whole family account, by emailing [email protected] with the child’s name and the change requested. We’ll action this within 30 days, sooner where practical.

Photos at events

If we or a partner club take photos or video at an FGC event your child attends, we use it under the licence described in our Terms, for promoting FGC’s services.

By registering for an event and accepting these terms, you opt in by default to your child being photographed or filmed for this purpose. If you’d prefer your child not to be included, tell us in writing before the event (email [email protected], or the event-specific contact given at registration) and we will provide your child with a wristband or other visible marker at check-in so photographers and organisers know to exclude them. You can also withdraw this consent after the fact, in writing, for any specific photo or video already taken, and we will remove it from active promotional use.
